The Bright Stars of India Book of Records

There is no dearth of talent and creativity in India. We have compiled a few of the brightest individuals and organisations that have received recognition from the India Book of Records (IBR). Some of them have been included in the prestigious Asia Book of Records, a sister publication of IBR.

  1. An aerial runway done by a specially-abled man
    The record for doing an aerial runway by a specially-abled man was set by Vijay Kumar Devarkhyani (born on March 13, 1989) of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He is a case of Locomotor Disability above 82%. (Cerebral Palsy with Mental Retardation). He performed ziplining across tower 1 to tower 3 at 473ft height and returned to tower 1 in a sky lift at 461ft, at the age of 24 years, 2 months, and 6 days on Nov 25, 2020.

  1. Maximum HCPs joined the Melasma Awareness Movement

The record for maximum HCPs joining the Melasma awareness movement across the country was set by Zydus Healthcare, Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Melasma Awareness Movement, also known as the ‘Face the World’ campaign, was conducted nationwide to raise awareness about the skin condition – Melasma, starting from April 1st to May 31st, 2023. A total of 18,737 healthcare professionals (HCPs) participated in the campaign and lakhs of patients achieved significant awareness regarding Melasma. The activity made its way to the Asia Book of Records.

  1. Maximum states visited to raise awareness about public hygiene

The record for the maximum number of Indian states and UTs visited by road to raise awareness about public hygiene was set by Raja Narasimhan (born on December 15, 1964) of Pune Maharashtra. He along with his wife Priti Raja Narasimhan and Cara Champion Raja (Labrador pet dog) conducted a drive under their campaign ‘Spit Free India Movement by Sare Jahan Se Acha Foundation, in which a total distance of 32,000 km across 20 states and 2 Union Territories was covered in 8 phases from March 2021 till February 2023.

  1. Largest pilgrimage organised for senior citizens

The record for organising the largest pilgrimage for senior citizens was set by 42 Leuva Patidar Uva Mandal, Patan, Gujarat. A total of 4500 senior citizens’ visit was arranged for three holy places of Gujarat i.e., Somnath, Khodaldham (Rajkot), and Dwarika. A team of 20 doctors along with 600 volunteers joined the pilgrimage, which started on July 28, 2023, at 3 pm from Patan and Mehsana Districts and ended on 31, July 2023 at 5 pm at Patan. 115 buses were used in the pilgrimage and each participant was protected with accident insurance for their journey. The activity was recorded in the Asia Book of Records.

  1. Largest pre-departure briefing given to students

The record for the largest pre-departure briefing given to students was set by Santa Monica Study Abroad Pvt. Ltd. of Kochi, Kerala. A total of 7236 Visa-received students for Canada assembled at the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Centre (Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium), Kochi to receive a pre-departure briefing about the culture and traditions of the country they were going to visit, on July 29, 2023. The activity was registered in the Asia Book of Records.

  1. Largest Hepatitis B Vaccination Camp organised in a Single day

The record for the largest Hepatitis B vaccination camp organised in a single day was set by Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences of Puducherry. A total of 2046 people including the public, students, and staff of the institute came forward and were vaccinated against Hepatitis B inside the premises of the institute on July 31, 2023.

  1. Maximum participants sang Carnatic Songs in different languages

The record for the maximum number of participants singing Carnatic classical songs in different languages was set by Kalyani Mudumba (born on May 18, 1982) founder of Kalyani School of Music, Bloomington, Illinois, USA. The event, Ashotthara Shatha Sankeertana Archana, took place at The Hindu Temple, Bloomington-Normal in Illinois, USA on October 8, 2022. A total of 27 participants performed 108 songs by 30 composers in 6 languages (online and offline) across 2 continents which served as a fundraiser for the local temple. The activity is part of the Asia Book of Records.

  1. Longest duration to perform Bharatanatyam by a child

The record for the longest duration to perform Bharatanatyam was set by Nallangu Bhavya Hasini (born on November 10, 2010) of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. She started doing Bharatanatyam on July 8, 2023, at 4 pm and performed continuously for the longest duration until 8 pm, at the Rebala Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy Town Hall in Nellore, at the age of 12 years, 7 months, and 28 days.

  1. Highest sales of a country liquor brand in a year

The record for the highest sales of a country liquor brand (Bunty Bubbly) in a year was set by India Glycols Limited of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Their country liquor brand ‘Bunty Bubbly’ achieved the highest sales record of 1,63,27,774 cases, bottles, pc for the year 2022/23. The sale is also ratified by the Uttar Pradesh Excise Department. India Glycols Limited has become the largest country liquor manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. Despite being a single unit, it has produced Country Liquor (Bunty Bubbly) adhering to the highest quality standards.

  1. Maximum distance covered in 24 hours on a motorcycle

The record for maximum distance covered in 24 hours on a motorcycle was set by EVO India magazine on TVS Apache RR310 fitted with Apollo Alpha H1 Tyres at the NATRAX in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. A team of riders rode the motorcycle continuously for 24 hours, starting on July 2, 2023, at 10 am and ending on July 3, 2023, at 10 am, stopping only for rider change and refuelling, clocking 152.2 kmph average speed over the new record distance of 3657.92 km.
