NORD opens factory in Texas

At the end of May, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS celebrated the opening of its new factory in McKinney, Texas. Following Waunakee in Wisconsin, Charlotte in North Carolina and Corona in California, this is the fourth US site for the complete supplier of drive technology. Here, NORD will offer pre-sales, warehouse, assembly and aftermarket services in the Southern region of the USA. The new factory will thus complement the other sites in supporting customers throughout the entire United States.

The McKinney site is located northeast of Dallas. Capacities for assembly, service and customer experience are located on an area of 7,900 square metres. Immediately after the completion of the first construction phase in June 2023, the manufacturing of unpainted gear units started. During the second construction phase, further assembly areas were added, so that the factory now features ten assembly cells. With the completion of the last construction phase, the site got a painting system with which gear units can now undergo different surface treatments. In the future, up to 200 units will be completed per shift.

Building a close relationship to the McKinney community
Apart from the NORD Managing Directors Ullrich Küchenmeister and Gernot Zarp from the headquarters in Bargteheide, many representatives of industry associations, customers, suppliers and politics had come to celebrate the opening. Among them was Congressman Keith Self. During the following “open house”, the guests got to know the new factory first-hand, and learned how NORD offers appropriate drive solutions and service close to the customer. “With the new factory, we will be able to keep our customer promise and continue to offer very short delivery times”, says Torsten Schultz, president of NORD USA. “The city welcomed us with open arms, and we look forward to build a close relationship to the community.”

NORD’s worldwide presence ensures better focus on the customer
Customer proximity is essential for NORD DRIVESYSTEMS. With its global network, the drive specialist is represented in more than 80 countries. With this, NORD offers short delivery times, competent advice and rapid on-site service to its customers. Our own production and assembly facilities as well as our service centres in all key industrial nations ensure smooth collaboration on site and a better focus on the customer.

Texas is a current investment hot spot in the USA
The new site in Texas not only completes NORD’s presence in the USA, which now extends in all four directions of the compass. Texas is considered one of the current booming regions in the USA. With a gross domestic product of about 2.6 trillion US dollars (2023, Statista), the State ranks among the top 10 national economies. Funded by investment-friendly politics, many companies from national and international traditional and future-oriented industries currently locate here. For NORD, this is thus the ideal location for being close to its customers. From here, NORD will primarily supply its motors, gear units and frequency inverters to customers from logistics, food, electronics or mechanical engineering industries.
