Vigyan Parv 2024: Celebrating Science in Grandeur at STME NMIMS Indore

The School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME) at NMIMS, Indore, recently concluded “Vigyan Parv 2024,” a festival of science that took place from February 25th to March 2nd, 2024. Supported by the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, and the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal, the event was a celebration of scientific inquiry and innovation. Drawing participation from around 200 students, the festival became a melting pot of ideas, creativityand scientific exploration.

Vigyan Parv 2024 focused on creating a roadmap for a 'Viksit Bharat’ through its array of sessions and competitions. Highlights of the event included enlightening talks by Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, NMIMS Indore, on “Significance of Science and the Role of Indian scientists in shaping Viksit Bharat”.  Exploring the Contributions of Indian Scientists,” by Mr. Anil Rawat, Director, Technology Development and Support Group at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) and Dr. Santanu Manna, Senior Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore who spoke on the topic, “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The sessions provided everyone in attendance with a deep understanding of India's rich scientific heritage and its potential to influence future innovations.

Dr. Anshuman Jaswal set the stage for the inspiring addresses to follow by highlighting the significance of Science and the Role of Indian scientists in shaping Viksit Bharat in Vigyan Parv. He said, “It is a platform for showcasing India’s scientific achievements and fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and exploration among students.”

Dr. Anil Rawat took the audience on a journey through the rich history of Indian science, highlighting the extraordinary contributions of eminent Indian scientists such as C.V. Raman and Homi J. Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, Jagadish Chandra Bose and A.P.J Abdul Kalam, among others. Dr. Rawat discussed their groundbreaking discoveries and innovations that have left an indelible mark on the global scientific community and left the audience awestruck.

Meanwhile, Dr. Santanu Manna discussed the importance of leveraging indigenous technologies to propel India towards development and progress. Dr. Manna highlighted specific examples of indigenous technologies and their impact on various sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and manufacturing.

The event was also a stage for competitive creativity, featuring a Poster Presentation Competition and a Technical Painting Competition. These competitions saw enthusiastic participation from the students, who showcased their understanding of scientific concepts through artistic expression and innovative presentations. 

The closing ceremony of Vigyan Parv 2024 saw trophies and certificates awarded to the standout participants in each category. The event was orchestrated by a committed trio of faculty coordinators from STME NMIMS Indore Campus, including Dr. Divya Gautam, Dr. Nidhi Asthana, and Mr. Gaurav Paliwal, whose efforts were pivotal in the seamless execution of this grand festival under the guidance of Dr. Vikas Khare, Associate Dean STME NMIMS Indore.

Concluding the riveting session, Dr. Vikas Khare, Associate Dean of STME NMIMS Indore, praised the efforts of faculty coordinators and also emphasised the invaluable learning experiences gained by students through interactions with experts and participation in competitions.

Reflecting on the event's success, Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, NMIMS Indore, shared, “The enthusiasm and innovative spirit of approximately 200 participating students have truly exceeded our expectations. Vigyan Parv 2024 has not only been a platform for showcasing scientific talent but also a beacon of inspiration, driving us towards a future where science and technology lead the way.”
