Defense Ministry will purchase 693 Infantry Combat Vehicles from AVNL

The Defense Ministry on March 13, 2024 signed a contract with Armored Vehicles Corporation of India Limited (AVNL) for procurement of 693 armament upgrades of Infantry Combat Vehicle BMP2 to BMP2M. This upgrade includes Night Enablement with Automatic Target Tracker, Gunner Main Sight, Commander Panoramic Sight and Fire Control System (FCS) under the procurement (Indian-indigenously designed, developed and manufactured) category.

AVNL has developed an indigenous solution to provide night fighting capabilities and FCS to the existing BMP 2/2K based on the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Chennai-developed site and integration of FCS. .

AVNL will produce armament upgrades with components and sub-systems sourced from indigenous manufacturers. This will further strengthen the indigenous defense production ecosystem and will benefit from increasing self-reliance in this sector.
